Excellence in education
Menninger offers a rare set of advanced educational opportunities, including a long-term hospital setting for patients with complex disorders and practical experiences with diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation. Each year we attract more than 250 trainees who come here to work side by side with leading mental health professionals and participate in interdisciplinary treatment teams.
The federal government has designated more than 1,600 urban, suburban and rural communities as Mental Health Professionals Shortage Areas for psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses and other professionals.
The Epicenter advantage
The Epicenter will allow us to increase the number of mental health professionals we train, helping alleviate the severe national shortage. It will be an unparalleled asset for recruiting renowned faculty to the Menninger Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at Baylor College of Medicine. They will, in turn, increase the caliber and demand of trainees who will be the next generation of clinicians to deliver help and hope to those with mental illness.
